Buffalo Screams 2011 Wrap Up

When we launched Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival last year, we did so with an ambitious three-year plan to turn the fest into an event that would portray the City of Buffalo in a positive manner, shine a spotlight on local talent, and bring quality films and talented filmmakers to the Queen City.  With our second year wrapped up, we're actually ahead of schedule: Buffalo Screams 2011 was a wonderful event that exceeded expectations.

"And the winners are..."

Actually, I don't care for that phrase - it suggests there are losers at Buffalo Screams, and there are no losers... just different levels of winners.  I'm exhausted and will write about the fest in depth later, but I will say that a film festival is only as good as the filmmakers participating in it, and we had some great people participating in this year's event.  Here is a list of the folks either taking home a framed certificate or receiving one in the mail soon...

Screaming in Buffalo

If you're attending Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival from out of town, here is some basic information.  Most likely, you've booked a discounted room at our official hotel, the Courtyard Buffalo Amherst, 4100 Sheridan Drive, (716) 626-2300.  Sheridan Drive is a busy commercial area with a lot of car dealerships and several restaurants.  It's right next to a thruway ramp, so make sure you don't mistake that ramp for its driveway!  The Courtyard is a decent business hotel, but it does not have a bar, and the lobby will be under renovation during the festival.  Anyone who booked a room in t

Showcase Screams

As you look over the schedule for Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival - and later, when you look through through the spiffy Buffalo Screams program book designed by Emil Novak - you'll notice several films designated as "showcase" presentations.  A Showcase film is one that is ineligible for competition, either because it's an established, or it wasn't produced during the window of eligibility, or it was made by one of the members of our board of directors.  This year we have several Showcase films:
