Here they are, the Official Selections for Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival! This year, we're screening 47 films from around the world, including submissions for the Faux Grindhouse Trailer competiton. In addition, seven original screenplays will compete in two different categories (the feature screenplays will be judged by Canadian filmmaker Joseph O'Brien, currently in post production on The Devil's Mile).
One of Buffalo Screams' goals is to bring the best independent films from around the world. To that end, we're pleased that we've selected twelve films produced outside the United States.
Another of our goals is to shine a spotlight on rising filmmakers here in Western New York, and we'll be screening 13 films produced in our area.
We're also happy to be showing three student films, two from WNY and one from Canada.
For breakdown fanatics put there, we're screening 13 features; 5 medium length films; 20 shorts, 6 Faux Grindhouse Trailers, and 3 student films.
Buffalo Screams runs from Wed Oct. 17th - Sun Oct. 21st. Our venue is the Dipson Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre, 639 Main Street in downtown Buffalo. Our official hotel, which is offering festival discounts, is the Comfort Suites Downtown, a block away from the theater. And our awards dinner will be held at the Screening Room Cinema Cafe in Amherst, approximately 15 minutes away.
Our Honorary Chairperson is Debbie Rochon and our special guests are Rochester filmmaker Chris Seaver, who will receive our Genre Spirit Award at our awards dinner on Sunday, October 21st; Paige k. Davis from DVD distributor POP CInema; and local filmmaker Sam Qualiana.
We will post a full schedule sometime in the next 48 hours!
