ORIGINAL “SCREAMPLAY” AND FILM SUBMISSIONS

“Screamplay” Competition: Horror, Science Fiction & Fantasy Story is crucial to the narrative filmmaking process, and Buffalo Screams is devoted to recognizing and encouraging up and coming genre screenwriters. We've expanded our screenplay competition to include four distinct categories: Feature, Medium Length, Short, and Student. All screenplays must be original works, and must not be under option by any studio or production company. We require two hard copies of each screenplay submitted, in addition to our submission form and entry fee; if your work is selected to compete, we will also require a .pdf or Word doc of the script as well. Hard copies will not be returned.

Film Competition

We want to see fresh, exciting new films from up and coming talent around the world. We have multiple categories, including three “More Than Horror” categories, which encompass other genres: action, science fiction, fantasy, thriller, mystery. If you're not sure if your non-horror film fits our criteria for “More Than Horror,” please email us.

We require two DVDs of submitted work, clearly labeled with your film's title, running time, and category, along with our submission form and entry fee.

Screeners will not be returned.

Western New York Genre Film Competition

This year we are offering a single award to the best regional genre film produced in Western New York. Short, Medium, and Feature Length Horror, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and More Than Horror Films will compete for the title of “Best Western New York Genre Film.” We want our local filmmakers to bring their best game. Films must be submitted under the appropriate general category listed above, for the respective submission fee. If accepted for screening at the festival, locally produced films will automatically compete in this competition, regardless of whether or not they are nominated in the category for which they are submitted.
